Well 2009 was a bad year for Airbus in the A380 section, With Airbus only delivering 10 A380s during 2009. These were MSN007, MSN017, MSN023 (Emirates), MSN019, MSN021, MSN034, MSN045 (Singapore Airlines), MSN026, MSN027 (Qantas) and MSN033 (Air France).

The A380s that did not make Airbus schedule of 12 for the year were MSN029 (Qantas #6) which will now be delivered on January 8th and MSN040 (Air France #2) which will be delivered in late January.
MSN028 (Emirates) left the paint hanger last week which now opens a spot for MSN038 (Lufthansa #1) to enter the paint hanger.
MSN030 (Emirates) has yet to start taxi tests but Airbus is hoping to start them this week.

MSN030 (Emirates #11) will start taxi tests within the next few days. In the photo below you can see that MSN030 has very little scaffolding around which usually means engine and taxi tests are imminent.
MSN046 (Emirates #12) also has little scaffolding around it and will start it’s taxi tests in the first or second week of January. As we mentioned earlier MSN041 (Lufthansa #2) has purple sheets around it’s engines, unlike MSN046. Which could easily mean that MSN046 will fly ahead of MSN041 even though it left Final Assembly later.

MSN029 (Qantas #6) will be delivered today and will arrive in Australia on the 1st of January.

The first convoy for 2010 has been announced. It will contain the remain pieces of MSN062 (Qantas #10) and a new MSN. This will have to be either MSN035 (Korean Air #1) or MSN058 (Singapore Airlines #12). I know we have said this for the last few Convoys. But we are certain that it will be one of these two.

One of our trusty forums members has visited Toulouse and has come up with some great photos and news.
MSN052 (Air France #5) has been moved finally into the Final Assembly Line after lengthy stay on the flightline. She is currently situated in Station 30B.
MSN041 (Lufthansa #2) has now purple sheets covering the whole engines. This leads us to think that MSN041 will be spending more time on the flightline.
We also have the first shot of MSN046 (Emirates #12).
MSN023 (Emirates #7) was delivered to the airline on December 22nd. MSN023 is the 23rd A380 delivered. MSN029 (Qantas #6) is scheduled to be delivered on December 27th.

This wraps up A380 Movements before Christmas. Our first after Christmas should be Boxing Day.

MSN042 (Emirates #13) has finally entered Final Assembly after several weeks on the flightline. You can see a picture of the flightline below and you can only see MSN052 (Air France #5) and MSN041 (Lufthansa #2).
MSN057 (Emirates #15) has finished body join and will soon be transfered to Final Assembly. MSN061 (Lufthansa #5) will take MSN057’s spot in body join after Christmas.
MSN027 (Qantas #5) was supposed to arrive in Sydney from Toulouse (via Singapore) on Sunday night, but was delayed in Singapore and due to Sydney Airports curfew it was delivered in Melbourne. This is the first delivery of an Airbus A380 in Melbourne. Melbourne airport usually gets deliveries of Qantas’s Boeing B737s and Airbus A330s.
MSN027 (Qantas #5) has been delivered to the airline will arrive in Sydney on Monday.

Recently the popular German news site .com they have written an article on the first A380 for Lufthansa and have given us some photos from the outfitting halls in Hamburg.
The photos show that they are currently are installing the overhead bins and finishes to the cockpit. The seats are currrently waiting outside the aircraft and will be installed after the inside walls are applied. The other thing to notice is that MSN038 is still not painted. Airbus is now painting there A380s later in the process of outfitting. This could be to do with how long outfitting takes and if paint is applied early then when the aircraft is delivered the paint could be four to five months old. The photos of MSN038 could have been taken anytime within the last month.

Lufthansa will recieve MSN038 in late May. Followed shortley by their second MSN041.

A picture of MSN062 (Qantas #10) taken on the 15th December has been posted online and paints an interesting picture in the production. It looks like MSN062 has jumped ahead of MSN035 (Korean Air #1) and MSN058 (Singapore Airlines #12) and taken the spot of Convoy #19. Convoy #19 is scheduled to begin on December 18th.

MSN046 (Emirates #12) has been rolled out the Final Assembly Line in Toulouse with engines attached and almost ready to fly with just a few more touches needed before first flighht in early January.
This now leaves three slots free in the Final Assembly Line. Which are MSN044 (Lufthansa #3), MSN048 (Lufthansa #4) and MSN049 (Air France #4). Two A380s waiting for Final Assembly are also on the flightline MSN042 (Emirates #13) and MSN052 (Air France #5). They should be moved back into Final Assembly before Christmas. We have now confirmed why they are on the flightline and not put instantly into Final Assembly. We have sourced that Airbus is upgrading the tools in the Final Assembly to apply some basic outfitting parts to ease the stress on Hamburg.
Emirates confirmed this week that MSN025 (#8) will be delivered on the 15th January 2010.
No interesting pictures this week. So here is one of MSN027 (Qantas #5) on the test flight.
