Yesterday, China Southern’s second A380 (MSN036) was spotted on the Hamburg flightline, with at least one engine missing.

The reason why she has engines missing, is likely to be linked the current shortage of Rolls Royce engines. Her original engines are now probably installed on a frame further ahead in production.

She will reenter the hangars in a few days, to be painted and to have new engines installed. Delivery to China Southern is scheduled for November.

China Southern’s second A380 (MSN036) has been confirmed as the new frame, being carried on Convoy #20/2010.

A complete frame was convoyed, with the forward and rear fuselage, as well as the wings for MSN036. The center fuselage and tail plane are for Emirates sixteenth A380 (MSN077).

In light of the Qantas A380 incident two weeks ago, news sources from around the globe have reported that up to forty Trent 900 engines will have to replaced over the coming weeks and months. Some media hubs have stated that new engines will be sourced from frames currently in assembly. We will have more information on this over the coming days.
