Convoy #5/2010 has been announced and is scheduled to arrive in Toulouse on the 24th March. Convoy #5 will be carrying the Center and Rear Fuselage for MSN064 (Air France #6).

In our last post we mentioned that spotters in Toulouse reportedly claimed that MSN042 (Emirates #12) was on the flightline. We can now confirm this is true and that MSN042 is complete.

The roll out of MSN042 is a surprise to us as MSN042 arrived in Toulouse after MSN048 (Lufthansa #4) and MSN052 (Air France #5). We are unsure if Emirates requested that MSN042 be put ahead of MSN048 and MSN052, or if there were delays in the production of MSN048 and MSN052.

MSN048 is on target to be rolled out late this week.

Last Thursday night MSN057 (Emirates #15) reentered Final Assembly after a months stay on the flightline waiting for MSN042 to be completed.

A380 Production Update: February 2010 (#7)

MSN057 (Emirates #15) has finished it’s first part of Final Assembly which included having The flaps installed, Some Belly Fairing, the APU and many “Under the Hood” parts.

MSN057 is currently sitting on the flightline waiting to switch spaces with MSN048 (Lufthansa #4). MSN048 should be rolled out of the Final Assembly Line late this week.

The final parts for MSN057 arrived in Toulouse on the 12th November and has only taken 92 days to get to this stage. This is a dramatic increase in time for Body Join and the first stages of Final Assembly.

This also means the production in Toulouse is speeding up but over in Hamburg, Outfitting is staying very much the same.

We expect by late April that MSN042 (Emirates), MSN047 (Qantas), MSN050 (Qantas), MSN052 (Air France) and possibly MSN056 (Emirates) to be completed.

But at the same time all the Outfitting slots in Hamburg will be already be occupied by…

MSN030 (Emirates), MSN041 (Lufthansa), MSN044 (Lufthansa), MSN046 (Emirates) MSN048 (Lufthansa) and MSN049 (Air France).

This means that Outfitting must be dramatically increased to get the twenty odd scheduled A380s for 2010 delivery to actually being delivered this year.

MSN042 (Emirates #13) has finally entered Final Assembly after several weeks on the flightline. You can see a picture of the flightline below and you can only see MSN052 (Air France #5) and MSN041 (Lufthansa #2).

MSN057 (Emirates #15) has finished body join and will soon be transfered to Final Assembly. MSN061 (Lufthansa #5) will take MSN057’s spot in body join after Christmas.

MSN027 (Qantas #5) was supposed to arrive in Sydney from Toulouse (via Singapore) on Sunday night, but was delayed in Singapore and due to Sydney Airports curfew it was delivered in Melbourne. This is the first delivery of an Airbus A380 in Melbourne. Melbourne airport usually gets deliveries of Qantas’s Boeing B737s and Airbus A330s.

Convoy #17 has been announced and will be carrying the remaing parts for MSN057 (Emirates) and a new forward fuselage for an unknow MSN. We are guessing MSN061 (Lufthansa) or MSN035 (Korean Air).

MSN025 for Emirates will not be delivered this year. This was confirmed by the airline eariler in the week. This means only 12 A380s will be delivered this year.

A bit of a quiet this week so I just give a brief current situation.

With the delays of MSN030,MSN043 and MSN025 the next major events will be transfer of MSN027 and MSN029 (Qantas) to Toulouse sometime this month for there trim fix. We are still unsure if there will be anymore delays. If delays were to happen it would take effect on MSN041 (Lufthansa), MSN044 (Lufthansa) and MSN046 (Emirates).

November will most likely see two convoys arrive. One has been announced and will arrive in Toulouse next week with parts for MSN057 (Emirates). The second covoy will most likely be two weeks after that with the remaing parts for MSN057 and a forward fuselage for MSN061 (Lufthansa).

Hamburg should see the roll out of MSN007, MSN023 (Emirates) late this month as they will be delivered in early December.

Oct 29 2009

With the arrival of Convoy #15. Convoy #16 has been announced. It will contain a center and a rear fuselage for MSN057 (Emirates). This means only the tail plane and wing pair is required to enter Body Join. They will both probably come on Convoy #17. The convoy will begin on November 9th.

The first pictures of Convoy #15 have arrived and of course it is MSN056 and MSN057 both for Emirates. MSN056 will enter body join first as the rest of MSN057 will come on Convoy #16, most likely in two weeks time.

Emirates now have ten A380s in the late production stages (MSN007,MSN009,MSN023,MSN025,MSN028,MSN030,MSN042,MSN046,MSN056,MSN057). This means by the end of 2010 Emirates will have 15 A380s in service.

This week a lot of delays have been announced in both sides of the production of the Airbus A380 (Toulouse and Hamburg).

First of all MSN041 the second for Lufhansa was scheduled to roll out of the Final Assembly Line this week and make its first flight around late November. But now we will not see MSN041 roll out of the Final Assembly Line until late November and is now scheduled to make its first flight on the 22nd December 2009 and then ferry to Hamburg on the 6th January 2009. This could be a problem for Lufthansa as they will not get MSN041 till unleast early June 2010. MSN041 was orignally sheduled for delivery on the 30th April 2010.

MSN030 (Emirates) has been delayed just over a week for a first and ferry flight. MSN030 will make its first flight on the 26th November and ferry to Hamurg on the 2nd December.

I am getting from various sources as well that other MSNs such as MSN044 (Lufthansa) and MSN046 (Emirates) will be getting delayed as well.

In Hamburg, MSN007 for Emirates will now be delivered in December. MSN007 was originally scheduled to be delivered in late November.

MSN025 (Emirates) and MSN043 (Air France) have now been delayed until January 2010. They were also scheduled for delivery in December.

A380s that are still scheduled to be delivered this year are MSN033 (Air France) this week, MSN007 (Emirates), MSN023 (Emirates),MSN027 (Qantas), MSN029 (Qantas), MSN040 (Air France). This would only make 12 A380s delivered this year. This would be the same number as last year.

But finally on a good note we can confirm that Convoy #14 was MSN056 (Emirates) and that Convoy #15 is MSN056 and MSN057 (Emirates)
