A380 Production Update: August 2011 (#6)

Korean Air’s third A380 (MSN059) was in the air today, performing some pre-delivery tests.

She was using the callsign AIB05AY, and was only in the air for about an hour. She is expected to be delivered to Korean Air later this month.

Yesterday, Korean Air’s third A380 (MSN059) was ferried to Toulouse, for delivery preparations.

She will be delivered to the airline later this month.

Yesterday, Korean Air’s third A380 (MSN059) performed her first flight.

After several circles over the south of France, MSN059 headed for Hamburg, and landed at 18:40 (UTC)

Yesterday, Korean Air’s third A380 (MSN059) performed its scheduled rejected take off test.

First flight is expected to be later today, or tomorrow.

Yesterday, Korean Air’s third A380 (MSN059) began taxi testing.

Engine tests and taxi tests were meant to begin two weeks ago, but an electrical fault delayed the tests. First flight is expected early next week.

Early last week, Korean Air’s third A380 (MSN059) was rolled out of final assembly.

Arriving in Toulouse in mid August, MSN059 took only eighteen weeks to complete final assmebly, making it the third quickest frame to do so. Delivery to Korean Air is on schedule for Q3 2011.

The forward and rear fuselage for China Southern’s first A380 (MSN031) have begun their long Convoy to Toulouse.

They are scheduled to arrive in the next few days.

Airbus has posted the dates and times for Convoy #14/2010. August 16th at 22:00 will be the time of departure, with an arrival into Toulouse on August 18th at 03:00.

On board the Convoy will the center fuselage for MSN059 (Korean Air #3) and a forward and rear fuselage for a yet unknown MSN.

Well this is a turn for the books, The new frame that is being carried on Convoy #12/2010 has been confirmed as the third A380 for Korean Air (MSN059).

All but the center fuselage will be carried on the Convoy. Airbus have told us that Convoys will not be stopping during the summer holidays.

Over in Toulouse, Airbus have rolled out Singapore Airlines thirteenth A380 (MSN065) from the Final Assembly Line.
